David HB Drake

Friday, October 2, 2020 at 7:30pm

David has been called "a gentle troubadour" and "elemental folksinger". His music is inspired by his voyages across Midwestern prairies and the waters of the Great Lakes. He has performed for more than twenty-five years in a wide variety of art forms for all ages. David was named "Folk / Acoustic Music Artist of the Year 2002" and "Family Performer of the Year 2001" by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry and the 2001 Arts Wisconsin  Community Arts Development Award for service to the arts. The Folk Alliance Region Midwest presented the "Lantern Bearer" Life Achievement Award in 2003 and his KIDSTUFF album received a "Parents'  Choice" award for outstanding children's music. Read his full biography.

His music reflects that of his mentors Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, Stan Rogers, Harry Belafonte, Paul Simon, Gordon Lightfoot, Pete Seeger and Gordon Bok.

Show your enthusiasm for the performers and our efforts to bring folk music to you during Covid.. We have suspended charging admission to the Coffeehouse's concerts, so please tip generously to support the performers and the Wil-Mar Center during these trying times. Stairwell has opted to give their half of tonight's tips to Wil-Mar in support of their social services.

via PayPal.

Wil-Mar is the neighborhood center where the Coffeehouse rents space during normal times. Wil-Mar continues to run it's social services and food bank, while losing income from the cancelled festivals that make up half of their annual budget. In support of keeping Wil-Mar in business serving those that depend on these services, the Coffeehouse is contributing half of the tips to Wil-Mar. So please donate generously to help us support, in addition to the peformer, Wil-Mar so they will be here when the pandemic comes to an end. Both Wil-Mar and the Coffeehouse are 501(c)3 charities. Some performers may opt to donate their half of the tips to Wil-Mar or an organization of their choosing.

If you experience poor or distorted sound on a smartphone:
Smartphones must mix the stereo signal to mono for the single built-in loudspeaker.
This could distort the audio for some or all songs. Listen using your earbuds or stereo headset for best stereo sound.

Thank you for listening

Tune in again next Friday for "Steve Hazell"
