Join our staff of volunteers!
The Wild Hog in the Woods is a not-for-profit volunteer operated cooperative organization. Without our volunteer members, we could not exist. Since 1978, a few hours each month by many volunteers has kept the Hog alive and vibrant. Please join other members and volunteer today. We will train you.

Hootenanny Coordinator:
The coordinator leads some sing-a-longs and song sharing. Attendees bring music sheets or books (Rise Up Singing, etc.), some wil bring stringed and other compatible instruments. The Hoots happen six times a year, we on Saturday afternoons. The coordinator arrives about 1:30pm and the Hoot starts at 2pm and goes till 4:30pm.
Event/Concert Coordinator:
The coordinator acts as the master of ceremonies for the Friday evening concerts. The coordinator greets the performers and makes announcements, leads the volunteers during the concert and during the setup and teardown, and acts as host. The coordinator arrives about 6pm and we are usually done with tear down by 10:30pm. The coordinator also makes decisions about inclimate weather cancellations. Cooridnators attend the bi-monthly Coordinators Meetings (first Monday evening of January, March, May, September (first Monday after Labor Day), and November. other coordinators will train new coordinators, so no experience is required. We also have a complete setup and tear down guide that will help the new coordinator.
Concert Workers:
The Hog always needs a few more people on the list to work at the Coffeehouse during Friday evening concerts. Volunteers arrive at about 6:15pm, and long with the evening's coordinator, set-up, operates and tear-down audience tables and chairs, the admission and food tables, act as hosts and makes the coffee. We will train you, no experience is required. We have a complete setup and tear down guide that will help the new volunteer. It's a fun and rewarding experience, and you get to hear some great music, too. Your admission and refreshments are free the evening you are scheduled to work. Our volunteer cooridnator will contact you by email when we need volunteers.
Sound Technicians:
Learn to setup the sound system, perform sound checks with the performers, operate the sound mixer and stage lights during the concert, and take-down and storing of the equipment. If you have no experience, our techs will train you on Friday evenings, before and during the concert. Set-up starts around 5:30pm, earlier if a large band is scheduled to play or a complicated setup is required. Learn more about our sound system.
Publicity:
A volunteer is needed to act as a liason with other newsletters/web sites (such as Madison Folk Music Society) and newspaper entertainment editors to promote the Hog's concerts and events. Posting to our Facebook page and sending to our email list announcements for upcoming concerts is another function of this position.
