Irish Folksinger/Songwriter Aoife Scott
in Concert, Friday, September 7th, 7:30pm, doors open at 7.

Award-winning folk singer and songwriter based in Dublin, Ireland, Aoife Scott was born into the legendary Black family.  Aoife is steadily rising to the top of the traditional and folk music scene by her own right.  Fragile and ethereal one minute and strong and vibrant the next, Aoife has a dynamic and profound voice, which explores the emotional depths of her lyrics, leaving the audience entranced.  Her music has a broad creative scope but is largely influenced by her own roots in folk and traditional Irish music.

Her recent accolades in 2018, have seen her named Best Folk Act at the Irish Post Music Awards (IRE), as well as Emerging Artist of the Year at the Live Ireland Awards (US).  Aoife is a true veteran of the Irish and Folk Festival circuit, having performed and headlined at dozens of festivals around the globe, including Milwaukee’s Irish Fest.

Following the success of her debut album, “Carry the Day”, wherein the Irish Times quoted it as “richly layered impressive debut album”, Aoife is currently writing her follow up - a second full-length album.

Don't miss this very special concert with internationally acclaimed Aoife Scott, with Andy Meaney, as the Wild Hog celebrates 40 years of providing a folk music stage for local, regional, national, and international talent in Madison.

40th Birthday Concert Jam - Friday November 30, 6:00-10:00pm and Saturday morning brunch

Planning is well underway for our birthday celebration. We are inviting some of our early performers and current performers to take turns on stage, invite others to play with them, and to jam together.

This is an extended evening with three sets of music broken up by frequent changes of whose on stage. Pizza and brithday cake will be available. Contributions to Phillup the Pig will be considered contributions to the Hog instead of the performers. Admission, suggested donation $5.00 per person.

Also still in the works is a breakfast brunch Saturday morning following the concert. We expect some of our past members visiting from out of town will appreciate a chance to mingle and talk with those still living in the Madison area.

The Hog's first night open in 1978 was on the 30th of November. How fitting that the 30th is the day we get to celebrate our 40th anniversary!
